Become a TV extra

As made famous by Ricky Gervais, being an extra from time to time can be a great way to earn some extra cash. Never pay to join with an agency unless you know they come highly recommended, there are plenty of legitimate agencies out there.

If you’re serious about making from money from it, you’ll need to sign up with quite a few agencies to guarantee some work; and remember, travel expenses may not be paid for.

How much can you earn? Most extras can earn between £60 and £80 per day, with overtime paid at £10 per hour. It would be good to have some fairly professional photos taken in order to start off getting work – we recommend finding a wannabe photographer at your uni rather than paying through the nose for expensive shots.
