What is NACUE?

National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs

A question that many students find themselves asking, but something that they really shouldn’t be. It stands for the National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs and is a great service that is based in the UK for budding entrepreneurs to realise their dream. NACUE supports the foundation and development of enterprise societies in Universities and other higher places of learning.

They host regular events which are attended by plenty of industry experts; they also give funds to these societies and also host discussions on topic relevant to students. The idea is to give those interested in enterprise a platform from which to build on ideas as a society and contribute something to the NACUE.

They hold over 20 events around the UK every year, so don’t be complaining you’re unavailable to go or they’re too far away because that’s simply not true. They have plenty to offer to all students around the country, whether it is help with funding or help getting the technical expertise that you lack.

One of the key events in the NACUE calendar is the varsity pitch. This gives students a chance to create a pitch for a business idea that they have and then present that to a panel of judges for a chance to win £10000 to help kick-start your business idea.

Not only this, but there are a plethora of other events going on through-out the year including a start-up career Launchpad on 28th March 2014. It’s a chance for some of the fastest growing businesses in Europe to scout new talent and could be just the break you need to land yourself with that amazing new job. Moreover, if you eventually become a leader of one of these societies, you get the opportunity to go to the leaders’ summit, giving students the opportunity to meet other entrepreneurial students and also meet some of the worlds’ most successful entrepreneurs.

The presence of these sorts of events and participation in these societies on a CV can really boost your potential employment opportunities and the chance of you getting a job. It shows that you are willing to go the extra mile and you are likely to have gained skills that will be beneficial for many different types of business owners. Furthermore, these events can actually give you a chance to meet potential employers, gain contact details and potentially get a job. They are a hub of all of the young talent and growing companies so they will provide these companies with good young talent and you with a job in a growing company.

So in answer to the question, what is NACUE? It is where you should be if you want to boost your chances of succeeding in life.
