How to Make Money at University

Student Advice on How to Get Some Cash at Uni
It’s Not Magic!

‘Money, money, money, it’s so funny, in a rich man’s world’. Unfortunately for most students, money is not funny as they do not live in a rich man’s world and is probably the one thing that every student will complain about not having enough of. Sometimes it will end up with a call to parents to ask them to fund your next few weeks living costs, but ideally it should never have to come to that.

Making money at University may seem like unnecessary stress as studying will take up a large proportion of your time, (hopefully) however there are ways of making money at University that will not take up too much of your precious time. Here are some ideas to get you started –

Get a weekend/evening/holiday job

A bit of an obvious one for starters, but ultimately the best way to make money if you are a student. It’ll be at the weekend, evening or during periods where you are not studying and can help to the fund those late nights out. If you had a job in a large chain shop at home, why not see if you could transfer that job to a shop near to where you are going to University, that way you could stay on the same pay and possibly move up on the pay chain.

Think of a niche idea

Do you have something about University that’s bugging you? I’m sure you’re not alone, so why not try to think of a way to fix this problem and then charge people for the pleasure of it. If you could get a team together, you may not even have to do much of the work yourself, paying them a share and keeping the rest for yourself, like a managing director.

Look Online

There are plenty of freelancing sites where you can sign yourself up and advertise your skills to complete a certain job. This is excellent as you get to choose the amount of hours you work, when you work and you can take a break from it if you have important exams coming up. You should try studentgems.com to start off with

Tutor

As a student you probably have excellent knowledge of GCSE and A-Level questions and this can be a great way to earn some extra money as parents strive harder to get their children focused and going to the best university.

Have a look at all of the options and see which one best suits you, there are plenty of people doing each of these things at the moment, so there may be competition, but once you are established, it gets much easier.
