The answer is yes, unfortunately. The good news is that if you are working in a part time job the first £6,475 of that 
income each year (April to April) is tax free.
If the accountant at the company you work for is taking tax off your wages then be sure to claim it back from the HMRC. Contact your local tax office to do so. Click here to find your local tax office.
If you know for sure that you won’t be earning more than £6,475 then ask your employer for a P38(S) for or download directly from here and you’ll be paid tax-free.
