Poppy Dinsey – Founder of Wiwt.com. A Lesson in Authenticity.

I can’t remember when it was when I started following Poppy Dinsey on Twitter, a year or two ago. poppy dinseyFor me, she is a shining example how you can evolve your personality into a fully fledged business.

The thing that made me follow her was her dry, unabashed sense of humour. Shoot me in the face here, but I don’t think girls are quite as good as guys at being funny, but Poppy was streaming out stuff that would crack me up – a very similar sense of humour to mine and to a lot of people out there.

At that pointing she was tweeting and she had her blog wiwt.com – which was originally a blog of only her and what she’d wear each day. Originally just a new year’s resolution to start the blog, not to start any business it has blossomed into one of the UK’s hottest start ups.

Off the back of Poppy’s attractive, humourous and vibrant personality she’s jumped off the cliff into entrepreneurial abyss and she’s succeeding from the get go.

First off, the website’s design looks awesome and already has thousands of users who are updating their photos each day. She already has many brands involved with the site and traffic is continually rising.

She’s captured what people are into, themselves. She’s captured the fact that people like to know what’s happening in fashion and where the latest cool things to buy are – it’s such a fantastic niche social network that has global appeal.

Her rise to fame has already led her to being in London’s Top 1000 most influential people where she was listed alongside

She also appears to be one of the best networkers in London, which is crucial in terms of reaching to the top. She knows that creating a support network around her is going to help the business where she wants it to be.

And, the most loveable thing about Poppy is that she is loveable. I’ve never met her (yet) but she exudes this honesty, warmth and comedy that you don’t find too often and she does this all online. I don’t think you can fake this, it comes from who she is as a person. What’s special is that she’s built her business around this.

The only sore point at the moment is that she’s having a tough time health wise and if you are your own brand then it’s going to be tough if you suddenly get ill. I have a feeling she’ll come through this valiantly and offer even more inspiration for more aspiring entrepreneurs, like you.

I love how she has taken such a simple idea and has started to build it into what may well be one of the biggest websites to come out of the UK in the last decade.

She’s certainly one to watch and her authenticity is what makes her the one to watch.
